Camp Central

An OBR 2014 campsite in Heppner, Oregon

After each day’s ride, you’ll arrive at camp ready to relax, recharge, socialize, see the sights and enjoy the evening knowing that Bicycle Rides Northwest is taking great care of you. Our campsites are located in grassy parks, school grounds or fairgrounds, with plenty of room for tents, bikes, dining area, showers, bathrooms and more. We seek out spots with shade trees, but we always bring our own shade with us so you have a cool spot to relax and hang out.

For one week, Camp Central is your home away from home. It is the ride’s start and finish for each day, and where you’ll have meals, entertainment and a good night’s sleep.

Meals, Snacks and Beverages

When you get to camp after each day’s ride, there will be a variety of snacks available for grazing, such as chips, dips, nuts, fruits or vegetables. Need something salty or need something sweet? We make sure we have a little bit of each!

Our crew will have soft drinks, flavored waters and beer (unless we are on school grounds that night) on ice, ready for you before and during dinner. Our water and electrolyte (we serve Gatorade) refill stations will be open at all times in camp to refill your water bottles and keep you hydrated.

Hearty breakfasts and gourmet dinners and delectable desserts are served buffet style and enjoyed at tables shaded by canopies.

Just ask any of our past participants and they will share that we know how to feed cyclists. Our food deserves a page of its own, so please go here to learn more about the food and meals that we enjoy on our rides!

Announcements

Every evening after dinner, we’ll recap the highlights of the day’s ride and give you all the information you’ll need for the next day’s ride.

Entertainment and Activities

We think it is important to give our guests the opportunity to learn more about the areas in which we ride, and we love to support the local communities that we pass through. We’ll find a variety of local speakers and/or local entertainment each evening to give you a taste of the region.

We organize a Wine Social one night so you can try some wine and mingle with fellow riders. We ask guests, if they want to participate, to bring a bottle to share and we will carry it for you. Better yet – pick one up along the route!

Information Boards

We want you to know what’s next, so menus, events, and activities for the day are displayed on our white boards at Camp Central.

First Aid

You name it; we have it. Our first aid station is always accessible at Camp Central.

Lost & Found

We know, sometimes it’s easy to lose track of things, so we are diligent about collecting items in our Lost & Found. Lost & Found is in Camp Central, usually near the first aid tent.

Charging Station

While we love it when our riders decide to “unplug” for the week, we also understand the need to be connected. We provide a charging station for your electronics such as phones, GPS devices, e-readers and more.

Showers, Sinks & Towels

Hot showers are available from 5:30 to 7:30 each morning and 2:00 to 9:00 each evening. Layover days have different hours – check the sign at the Shower Truck for more information. We also have sink stations for washing hands, shaving and brushing teeth.

Fresh, soft, clean towels are provided for the showers each day. If you plan on using a towel, for swimming, yoga, or in and around camp, please bring your own towel for those activities. Our towel service is for showers only.

Baggage

Unless you add on our additional Tent & Porter service, we’ll have wheelbarrows available for hauling your baggage from the trucks to your tent site and back each afternoon and morning.

Laundry

We provide buckets and detergent so you can hand-wash and freshen up your clothing if desired.

Bike Mechanics and Tire Pumping Station

Our trusty bike mechanics will be on hand starting at 4 p.m. each afternoon to take a look at your bike if needed, for free. They also have a well-stocked shop on hand if you need to purchase a part or accessory. Need to pump up a tire? We’ve got you covered with a self-serve tire pumping station.

Extras

We offer extra amenities for your comfort in camp – such as our Tent and Porter Service, chair rentals and massages. Check out our extras here.

Special Needs

Please contact us directly with any special needs. We try our best to accommodate special needs or requests.
